Wireless Tethered Photography +Dedicated Camera Van
Owning multiple drone platforms allows me to tailor the tools to the project - The Inspire 1 Pro platform has interchangeable cameras and lenses which allow perspective changes and long range photography and video capture. The Phantom 4 Pro 2.0 has the advantage of high resolution 1” sensor, Mechanical shutter, long flight time and ultra stable still and video capture in a small, quiet programable drone. The Mavic 2 Pro features a 20 MP Hasselblad camera for high quality still images and 4K video. Ideal for architecture, construction progress photos, time lapse video or large area mapping. I am an FAA Certified Remote Pilot since September 2016. I hold current FAA waivers for Bridgeport, Danbury, Hartford, New Haven and Oxford Class D airspace. Using LAANC (Low Altitude Authorization and Notification Capability) rapid approval is available for most controlled airspace in CT and nationwide.
Using the CamRanger wireless tethering system, with my 24’ high camera stand, allows for unique viewpoints and long exposures. This twilight scene, with holiday lights on a beautiful seaside home, was taken from the middle of a roadway - Otherwise Impossible to capture extended exposures, from that height, without an expensive lift truck, additional crew and permits. I have used this high camera stand on busy sidewalks in town, at the base of a hill to show a residence from “eye level” and for many other applications were stability, high perspective and a “small footprint” are requirements. Quick to set up and move, highly portable and always carried on-board my camera gear van.
Remote control of all camera functions + Live View on the iPad enables precise composition, exposure and focus. I often shoot 2 or 3 simultaneous views, using multiple camera setups during the ten minutes of “best light” at twilight. Please see my portfolio for award winning examples.
My dedicated camera and lighting equipment van carries the photographer and photo assistant/stylist and a full compliment of lighting, Camera, Drone and Grip gear: (12) Monolight Flash heads,(4) LED light panels,(12) light stands, 3 tripods: 8’ Giant, Standard aluminum + Graphite tripods w/ geared heads + Fluid head for motion work. DJI Inspire 1 Pro X5 camera w/ 7.5mm, 15mm & 25mm lenses, DJI Inspire 1 V2.0 + X3 camera, DJI Phantom 4 Pro 2.0 drones. DJI Osmo X5 gimbal and camera system with 7.5mm, 15mm, 25mm Olympus 4/3 lenses.
