Case Studies 2

Hartford Healthcare Medical Imaging lobby facade at dusk.

The architect wanted the photograph to closely match the original design rendering in composition and sky color. This was achieved with supplementary lighting on the building facade and careful selection of the sky image.

Hartford Healthcare Medical Imaging street facade at dusk.

Because the building is located at a busy intersection with numerous phone poles and building across the street, the facade was lit with the headlights of turning vehicles. Traffic lights and telephone wires reflected in the curved mirrored glass were expertly retouched to remove distracting elements.

Hartford Healthcare LifeStar patient transfer simulation.

HHC needed a dramatic photo showing a patient transfer in process on the 13th floor helipad at Hartford Hospital. A video shoot was scheduled the next morning with one of the helicopters scheduled to land at 7 am. I brought an assistant, portable battery powered studio flash units and set up while the video shoot was underway. As soon as the video wrapped, we had the flight crew and doctor wheel a crew member (posing as a patient) on a line parallel to the camera. By keeping everyone in motion and freezing the action with strobe at the point of focus, we captured a still image that conveyed the dynamics of a professional medical team in action.
